UVA (ultra violet A) - aka: aging rays...the effects of UVA are not immediately noticed but accumulate over time. This UVA damages the dermis it causes wrinkles, & loss of elasticity. Can also cause damage to the eyes. This can also increase your chances of getting skin cancer. UVA bulbs are in tanning beds.
UVB(ultra violet B) - aka burning rays....within 4-8 hours after UVB exposure skin cells & blood vessels are damaged. Severe overexposure in childhood may be related to the development later in life of the most severe type of skin cancer.
